At the Cross

Luk 9:23 And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.

For some the cross is too heavy to bear and they take another path, but for those of us that love him, his ways, and his presence it goes from a sacrifice to a love relationship. We don’t live this life because we are compelled to by others, but because we have been forever changed by the sacrifice he made for us, and the infilling of the holy ghost. No one makes me pray. No one makes me read my bible. No one makes me go to a church meeting. I do those things because I love him. When you love him its no trouble to sacrifice your time, your money, and your efforts. Because to catch one glimpse of him at the cross of Calvary where he gave all for you, so that you would have the chance to spend forever with him, is more than enough.

There are Jewish priest today that are not allowed to come into contact with the dead, or marry a divorced woman. They have to obey all the old testament laws just for the chance to serve in the rebuilt temple in Jerusalem. Not that they will get to, but that they get a chance to. All the furniture is ready, and the only thing they are missing is the ark of the covenant and the building itself. The building can be prefabricated much like a home today can be for quick assembly, and they think they know where the ark might be. However, if they can’t get the original ark they will just use the replica. So you see we are nearing those final years just before the return of Jesus Christ to this earth.

And the closer that day comes the lighter my cross gets, until one day I no longer feel its weight because of the inner strength he gives to those that love him. The greatest gift God ever gave me was himself, there can be no greater. Mat 16:26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? If you lose your own soul for the world you have lost yourself to the flame, If you lose yourself for Jesus he and heaven is yours to gain.

On Calvary’s hill of sorrow where sins demands were paid, and rays of hope for tomorrow across our path were laid. I see a crimson stream of blood it flows from Calvary, and its waves which reach the throne of God our sweeping over me. If it has been awhile since you prayed, and maybe you lost your way, Just look back to Jesus and the cross and you will hear him say, I see a crimson steam of blood… His grace is not a licence to sin, but its there if you need it. You know those words he spoke to you. I will never leave you or forsake you. When all others have given up on you and go the other way, Jesus was there all the time waiting on you to say, I’ll go to the cross until I see your light again. Never once, never once, did he stop being your friend. calvarycolumbus.com A place for you to rest awhile.
