‘Record-Breaking’ Number of Migrants Crossing Mediterranean This Easter

An “unprecedented” number of people tried to cross the Mediterranean over the Easter weekend this year, a migrant charity has said. The Migrant Offshore Aid Station (MOAS) said they went to the aid of between 1,500 and 1,800 men, women, and children on seven rubber and two wooden vessels over the weekend, picking up 453 on their own ship and providing life jackets and other provisions to around 1,000 more.
