Tropical Storm Emily to spark localized flooding, disruptions across Florida to end July

“The system that formed along the front on Sunday has taken advantage of the warm waters of the eastern Gulf of the Mexico to become better organized,” AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Kristina Pydynowski said. Tropical Depression Six was upgraded to Tropical Storm Emily at 7:45 a.m. EDT, Monday, July 31. “The good news is that Emily will quickly move into the Florida Peninsula on Monday, limiting its potential for further strengthening and the risk of damaging winds.”
